Help With the Site You Already Have

Squarespace, Wix, Shopify or WordPress. We fix it, or move you off it, and tell you which one makes sense.

Most small businesses in Hamilton and Haldimand did not start with an agency. They started with Squarespace, Wix, Shopify or WordPress, and the site mostly works. Then something stops working: the site never shows up on Google, the contact form goes quiet, the store is slow on phones, or the design looks five years old. You do not always need a new website for that. Often you need someone who knows where the builder hides the setting.

What we fix on a builder site

Search first, because it is the usual complaint. We check that the site is allowed to be indexed (Wix and Squarespace both have a switch that hides a site from Google, and trial sites are hidden by default), that it is connected to Google Search Console, that every page has its own title and description, and that old addresses redirect to new ones instead of breaking. Then the things that cost you enquiries: forms that send to an old email, phone numbers that are not tappable, pages that crawl on a phone, images without descriptions.

Design refreshes stay inside the builder when the builder is fine. A new template, cleaner pages and better photos on the platform you already pay for usually costs far less than a rebuild, and you keep editing it the way you know.

Moving you off a builder

Sometimes the honest answer is that the platform is the problem: a Wix site you have outgrown, a Squarespace store that needs shipping rules it cannot do, or a WordPress install nobody has updated in years. A move is mostly about what you keep. We map every old address to its new one with permanent (301) redirects so Google passes the old pages' standing across, move your content and products, and keep your domain and email where they are.

We have grown a Shopify store (TeamGear.ca) for years and build custom sites in code, so we can tell you which way a move should go, including when the answer is a different builder rather than a custom site.

When we will tell you to stay put

If your builder site is doing its job and only needs a few settings fixed, that is what we will quote. A five-page site for a service business rarely needs to leave Squarespace or Wix. The time to move is when the platform blocks something that makes you money, not because a developer prefers different tools.

FAQ

Website Builder Help — Common Questions

Do you work on Squarespace and Wix sites, or only custom builds?

Both. We fix, redesign and maintain sites on Squarespace, Wix, Shopify and WordPress, and we build custom sites when a builder cannot do the job. Most of the builder work we see is a few hours of fixes, not a rebuild.

How much does it cost to fix a Squarespace or Wix site?

It depends on what is wrong, so we look first and then quote a fixed price. A search and settings clean-up is usually a small job. A full redesign inside the builder or a move to another platform is a project, and we quote it as one.

Will I lose my Google rankings if I move off Wix or Squarespace?

Not if the move is done properly. The risk is old page addresses that stop working. We list every URL on the old site and redirect each one permanently to its new page, which is how Google is told the page moved rather than disappeared.

Can you take over a site someone else built?

Yes. We need an admin or contributor login on the platform and access to wherever your domain is registered. We check what is there before we change anything.

Do you only work in Hamilton?

We are in Caledonia and most of our clients are in Hamilton and Haldimand County, but builder work is done online, so we take it from anywhere in Ontario.
