Usually it is a setting. Wix says it guarantees that all of your site's content can be crawled and indexed by search engines, so when a Wix site is missing from Google, the cause is almost always one of a short list of switches, page settings or redirects. Check them in this order.
First: is it not indexed, or not ranking?
Search Google for site:yourdomain.ca, with no space after the colon. If any of your pages come back, Google has indexed the site and your problem is ranking, which is a different fix (skip to the last section). If nothing comes back, work through the checks below.
The checks, in order
1. The site-wide indexing switch
In your dashboard, go to SEO & GEO, scroll down to Tools and settings, click SEO Settings and make sure "Let search engines index your site" is on. Turning it off and clicking Hide Site is how Wix keeps a site out of search, and it is easy to leave on after a soft launch.
2. Unpublished changes
Search engines can only index what you have published. Pages added, and edits made, since your last Publish do not exist as far as Google is concerned.
3. A page hidden from search engines
Each page has its own setting in the editor that tells search engines not to index it. If one page is missing while the rest of the site shows up, check that page's SEO settings first. Wix also hides some pages on purpose, such as Wix Blog archive pages, and that is normal.
4. A custom canonical or noindex tag
Wix sets a default canonical URL for every page. If someone changed it in the page's Advanced SEO tab, Google may be told the real page lives somewhere else. Reset it to the default. While you are there, check Additional Tags for a robots meta tag set to noindex.
5. A redirect pointing the page away
If the page has a 301 redirect on it in the URL Redirect Manager (SEO & GEO, Tools and settings), Google follows the redirect and drops the original. Delete redirects that should not be there.
| Wix redirect rule | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Changing a page's URL slug creates a 301 automatically | Renaming a page is safe, except on Wix Blog pages, where no redirect is created |
| 301 redirects only work with custom domains | A site still on its free Wix address cannot use them |
| Up to 5,000 redirects per site | Plenty for a small business, a limit for a large store moving in |
| The homepage cannot be redirected | Moving to a new domain needs a different approach than a page redirect |
| A deleted redirect cannot be recovered | Note them down before you clean up |

6. Ask Google directly
Connect the site to Google Search Console through Wix's SEO Setup Checklist, then submit your sitemap or the specific pages. It does not force indexing, but it tells Google the pages exist and shows you any errors it finds.
If the site is indexed but nobody finds it
This is the more common situation, and it is not a Wix problem. A Wix site ranks on the same things as any site: a separate page for each service, the towns you serve stated plainly, a complete and consistent Google Business Profile, reviews, and a reason for other sites to link to you. Wix's own help centre makes the same distinction between an indexing issue and a ranking issue.
